Traveling & Day 1

Me after not sleeping for
24 hours, waiting 3 hours
for one bus, and being
shocked by the freezing weather!

Flight from Newark, NJ to Edinburgh!

Thats a KFC :)

Buildings in Edinburgh

The plane thankfully left without any issues on Saturday night at 7:50. The snow coming up north was a bit of a worry but we got off with no problems. The flight was comfortable - good movies, good food. The only negative part was the air was -60 F above the clouds and I had the window seat which made me very very chilly during the flight. I fell asleep for about an hour until they announced a passenger was sick and needed medical attention. After being freaked out about that I didn't fall back asleep.

I arrived at Edinburgh around 7 am and boarded a bus to go to Center City which takes people to more remote areas of Scotland. After that I had to wait 3 hours to catch my second bus which was MISERABLE!!! It was very cold and uncomfortable seats. Finally I got onto the second bus which took me to a stop where I had to catch ANOTHER bus that would take me into St. Andrews. Once I got into town I found a taxi driver who took me right to my dorm and helped me with my 95 pounds of luggage (bad choice on my part). The two girls who have already looked into my closet were shocked with how much I fit into 2 bags.

I was a bit unhappy when I saw my room because it seemed isolated from the rest of the rooms. After exploring a bit, however, I realized basically all of the rooms in Andrew Melville Hall are secluded like that. The building won a design award and it is structured out to look like a sinking ship which is pretty cool. I have to walk downstairs to take a shower which is inconvenient but it's ok. There is a sink in my room which makes it easier. I can't wait to just go to sleep after the longest day and a half ever! The bed is pretty comfortable too which is nice!!
