It feels like Scotland is finally becoming home to me for now. I can finally feel comfortable in situations that used to make me feel incredibly nervous and shy - even though that rarely is my state of mind. Yesterday I didn't have class so after reading a bit when I woke up I headed into town to get some essentials. Oddly enough, I bought plastic forks and knifes for my room, you know.. just the disposable ones.. and was carded at the cash register!! The cashier asked to see my ID - i wasn't sure why since I wasn't purchasing liquor but graciously handed it over. He than told me it was due to the knifes.. AND the forks.. that I was being carded for. I suppose he needed identification to make sure I wasn't some fugitive running throughout St. Andrews threatening harm to people with dangerous plastic forks. I must look like the type.

Anyways, after shopping around a bit I came home, read some more, and had dinner - which once again, and very surprisingly, was awful. Dried "chicken" curry was the better of the other options - steak pie, which I will never become accustomed to, or some lamb dish which once again is not happening. I really have learned it is the little things in life that truly make the difference. I sometimes say a little prayer to myself walking to the dining hall hoping I wasn't too late for a stale roll and some apple juice (that is right.. apple juice makes my life over here) If you read my last post you understand the need for Brits to put seeds in just about everything imaginable here. So for dessert there was some type of whipped raspberry mousse.. which as you can imagine basically had sunflower seeds mixed in. The Melville committee always has wine and cheese events on tuesday evenings so I attended with some friends and then headed out to The Raisin. After hanging out for a while there.. and being shown some old Scottish guys leg tattoos (yes he pulled his pants down...) we headed to Empire for some late night junk food which never fails.

Today I woke up super pumped to go running on the beach, got all dressed, and looked out the window to realize a monsoon had hit Scotland. All day today it has been terrible winds and rain so as you can imagine the run did not happen. Hopefully Friday will not be so terrible so I can actually run down by the beach. A few Washington College girls are meeting up in Paris at the end of April so I am currently in the process of booking a ticket for that! I made a list of places I absolutely must see which includes London, Edinburgh, Barcelona, Belfast, Berlin, and basically anywhere in Italy - as long as I touched down in Italy I will be happy. I also finally got my second package in the mail today!! Yay American popcorn and soap that won't make my arms itchy!
